    SANSZUS

    SANSZUS
was born out of the special encounter of two wind instrumentalists: Elisabeth Beijerinck, one of the top contemporary Didgeridoo players in the world today better known as ‘Didge Mama’ and Aura Rascon an international flautist that has specialized in the Bansuri (Indian bamboo flute) and Hindustani Classical Music to the core.

Through breathing, we feel the living planet that gave birth to our instruments, through breathing, we create the music that connects our souls with yours. Having a mutual love, respect and admiration for each other’s work, instruments and musical traditions and an immediate personal click as friends, providing them with all the right ingredients for perfect music-making alchemy…

SANS, is a Sanskrit word which means: ‘breath’ and ZUS is a Dutch word, which means: ‘sister’… SANSZUS as a combination seemed the perfect way to describe their musical connection.

SANSZUS musical DNA is a rich one, rooted in two ancient and powerful music traditions: the Aboriginal music of Australia (represented by Lies) and the Hindustani (North Indian) Classical Music (represented by Aura), but manifested in a context of contemporary cross-over music, where the artists take the freedom to include elements such as free improvisation, beatbox, folk catchy melodies, intricate irregular rhythms and so on.

All this together with the imprinted personal touch of each of the musicians, is what gives SANSZUS its unique signature. Through breathing, we feel the living planet that gave birth to our instruments, through breathing, we create the music that connects our souls with yours.
