On October 4, 2023, the feast day of Saint Francis, the first Animal Day Festival will take place in the Moses and Aaron Church entitled Canticle of Creatures, with music inspired by Saint Francis, who was committed to the world around him based on his bond with nature.
Afternoon and evening program
The music festival consists of an afternoon and an evening program with compositions by Kate Moore , winner of the Gieskes-Strijbis Podium Prize in 2022. Organized in collaboration with the HERZ ENSEMBLE and the Community of Sant’Egidio , the festival celebrates the beauty of nature while raising awareness about environmental issues. The program is inspired by Saint Francis’ Canticle of the Sun (Cantico del Sole) and is a celebration of the elements of earth, fire, water and air, which sustain every living thing under the sun.
“When I walk, I experience that the environment tells me a story; every part: the plants, the soil, the stones, the animals. A song is a reminder to remember the wisdom of the land,” said composer Kate Moore
The Animal Day Festival is offered as a meeting place where people from different groups can be inspired to love, restore and heal their natural environment. The festival revolves around the universal bond in which everything and everyone is connected. Entrance is free.
