SUMMARY:Sound Bites\, concert by Saskia Venegas at November Music 2025
DESCRIPTION:SoundBites is an accessible concert format for discovering today’s music makers. Through short 20- to 25-minute performances and a predetermined route at various locations in Theater aan de Parade or throughout the city\, you’ll experience today’s music together. The routes are carefully curated. Each route features young and more established artists who musically navigate genres. They perform in varying ensembles\, from a timpani solo to meditative tree verses for five musicians. Some concerts are more theatrical\, others purely concert-based; each one is unique and highly diverse. In addition to the Sound\, there’s also a Bite: a snack and a drink while you listen to a performance and chat with each other afterward. If you’re curious\, eager to explore\, and want to be surprised\, then Sound Bites are perfect for you. We’ll take you on a two-hour musical journey together\, introducing you to today’s music by today’s artists. \n\n\nSaskia Venegas\n\n\n\nSaskia Venegas is a composer\, theatre maker\, and violinist. She is inspired by Eastern modalities\, improvisation techniques\, and spectral music. Venegas has previously collaborated with the Kronos Quartet\, theatre maker Milo Rau\, and the Hermes Ensemble. Venegas has developed a special bond with cellist Maya Fridman. Fridman’s enchanting cello playing is also central to Venegas’ recent performance “Ur” (water in Basque). According to Australian Aboriginals\, water can serve as a spiritual guide in life. In her work\, Venegas expresses the ritual and healing power of water\, especially in light of our current climate problems and fragile ecosystems. In “Ur\,” dynamic light projections\, subtle scent creations\, and music converge. Cellist Maya Fridman is joined by\, among others\, didgeridoo player Lies Beijerinck\, whose deep\, sonorous tones ground the performance. The performance is rhythmically supported by percussionist Jacobus Thiele.  \nSaskia Venegas Aernouts is a New Maker at Music Meeting Festival. This concert is made possible in part by Music Meeting and the Performing Arts Fund NL.
